Joshua's first birthday party!

Yesterday, February 27, 2011, we celebrated Joshua's first year of life with a party! And of course. It snowed.

I woke up bright and early because Joshua was too excited to sleep (haha... just like every other day?). I opened the blinds, and what do I see? About four inches of snow, and it was still coming down. So I had myself a mini panic attack, then turned on the news.

Local weather said they worst was over, and we'd only get about another inch and it would be ending by 11am (party was 12-4.) And since it was pot luck style, and my family is all from western Massachusetts and were ok with the drive in the weather, I decided to go about the day as planned. Luckily, the snow was light and the roads weren't too bad around here. We were so glad most everyone was able to make it out for Joshua's party!

Joshua showed up fashionably late (he naps from around 10 until 12 most days). I was sort of expecting a mental breakdown around 2pm because that is usually his second nap time. Surprisingly, he did amazing the whole time! We brought his dino so he could walk around since he's still not brave enough to walk on his own yet :) (soon?) There was lots of room there, so he had fun with that! He got to play with his cousins who he doesn't see often and some baby friends of his. Other than that, it was presents, cake, food, and great company! Here are some of the pictures from the day.

Joshua's giraffe cake. I made the giraffe, and my friend Kate made the cake.

He was not shy, grabbed the whole cake, forget dipping fingers in the frosting!

Entertaining his cousins

He was one very sticky boy after this. Wet Ones saved the day!

Poor giraffe . . .

Happy boy, fully of sugar and cake. He had frosting EVERYWHERE! Nose, ears, hair... you name it.
