Update: There IS something new

Right after I write in the last post that "nothing new was happening" blah blah blah. something new DID happen, so I figured I'd update before I forget.

Joshua can now stand up all by himself (uht-ohhhh) I kept saying how he looked like he could do it if he could only figure out how to pull himself close enough to something that was the right height. Well, I was right. I was sitting on the floor playing with him when he spotted the new box of diapers across the room by the chair. So he crawled over to gnaw on the box for a little while. Then slip himself on his knees right up next to it and POP—he was up. Once there he wasn't sure what to do, but he was very proud of himself and banged on the box for a little while and laughed at himself. Not sure he knows how to get back down without falling yet, which will be a problem for awhile on our hard floors, but he'll learn I'm sure.

He also can pull himself up in his crib. I went to go get him up when he woke up from a nap yesterday and there he was, standing at the edge of the crib hanging on for dear life and crying his eyes out. But he was up! I haven't gotten a good picture of him up yet, maybe tomorrow I will. So for now, here is another from his 7 month pictures. And the rest are on flickr, as always!

Big Man Turns 7 . . . Months!

7 months old already! I t really does go fast, as much as I denied it ever could when I hadn't slept for 2 months in the beginning.

Now our boss is 7 months old, crawling, laughing at himself, trying to pull himself up on things, terrorizing the animals, and getting into everything we don't want him to get into! And we love it, and he loves it I'm pretty sure. He has turned into quite a happy little guy. He seems to get more and more mellow by the day. Much like his mama, he is really only ever in a bad mood if he is hungry or tired haha.

The next task is trying to get him to take longer naps, and less times a day instead of being king of the catnap like he currently is. Would be much easier to plan a day if I knew I would have longer stretches of time that it would be safe to be out of the house without a meltdown from him or me.

I think that is about all that is new for now. Joshua doesn't have another doctor's appointment until November when he has him 9 month checkup. I may have to do a weight and measure on my own to see how big he's gotten! He's outgrown his infant carrier seat now, and really prefers napping in his crib instead of his pack 'n' play now. We also had to lower his crib mattress down because he is beginning to pull up on things and could get his shoulders up to the top of the crib when he tried.

Here are a few of the photos from his 7 month shoot. The rest are on flickr if you want to see them!

He can crawl!

As some of you already know, Joshua is now mobile! Just like all of the other milestones it seems, one day he wasn't crawling, and the next he was! We just sat him on the floor, he spotted the video game rack and TV and decided, it belonged in his mouth, if he could figure out a way to get it there. Or course, that would be the first thing he decided to crawl to, he is his father's son haha. Even when I pick him up and turn him to his toys, and put him across the room from the TV he always ends up back over there. I guess it's time to make a trip to the store to buy baby proofing things! And finally we will get the TV mounted on the wall (we have have the wall mount kit in our house for over a year now!)

Anyway, as promised, here are a couple videos of him crawling, he's not very graceful or quick yet, but definitely cute!

Joshua wants this. He told me so.

It's from Rockabye.com. It's a Joshua Giraffe! And he wants it. Who wouldn't really! So, just in case anyone wins the lottery, and is wondering what a 6 month old wants, it's this. How could he not?! it goes with his song (see below)
